Meridith Peele5 StarWe are just starting the process. Building a home is never easy and takes time, energy and sometimes headache, so we are mentally prepared for all of that. But what I can say is that Christina the sales rep is awesome and has a lot of knowledge and goes above and beyond to figure things out. So we give her 5 stars!Tuesday 2nd December 2025
James Musser1 StarThey suck -5 ☆s. In the first six months our Ac sucks is not keeping up with the 115 temps our house gets hot. We have 2 toilets that the mounting bolts came out on the side when we cleaned them. They were not even hooked up just looked like it. They were a month late past our loan deadline and we had to pay almost 45 thousand dollars in fines cause our loan expired. But we couldn't transfer it yet because the house was incomplete. Never again they suck. Walter there superintendent sucksTuesday 1st July 2025
CraigT1 StarI tried to work with this fairway, but they made everything hard and it was all bait and switch. And they try sooo hard to get your 6k down payment to lock you in, I'm lucky that I saw other reviews and asked all the right questions and decided to walk away. I even spoke to the office and told them that my quote made no sense and was 75k over my original quote. Please read your contract carefully and run away as fast as possible.Friday 2nd May 2025
Mike Hansel1 StarIf I could give negative 5 stars (- 5), I would. I would NEVER, EVER use this contractor! Why? It took over 3 years from signing of contract to completion of a 500 sq. ft. casita. To be fair, some delay was due to time to get permits and to remove an existing shed, and to raise the elevation to meet city flood use permit requirements. But it took over a year from the time framing was complete and inspected till the house was finished.
Do you want to get your own permits? That's what you'll do. Do you like being your own general contractor? You will! You will have to hire painters, cleaners, waste haulers, tree trimmers and fencing contractors, and coordinate them along with city inspectors. There is a list of 67 (!) Homeowners Responsibilities, including getting your own permits, hauling their trash, providing a porta potty for over a year! Buying and installing your own appliances and ceiling fans! You want to make a change? That will be thousands of dollars in change orders.
Fairway Homes West hires the cheapest contractors, who then need to be called back multiple times (roofers twice, electricians 6 times, stucco contractors 5 times) to redo work that was done incorrectly. Like neutral wires connected to hot positions at the circuit breaker. Like a missing 2x4 at the peak resulting in a leaking roof. Like not installing kitchen plumbing correctly. Like having to jack hammer out the shower to provide an ADA accessible shower when the plans clearly show that.
Energy Efficient? Kind of. Well insulated, high efficiency heating/cooling. But… the furnace filter was located at the peak of a 12' vaulted ceiling, requiring a ladder to change it out. There is a 30 cu.ft./min stream of unconditioned air continually brought into the house and the same conditioned air blown out. The water heater heats the water by taking heat out of the indoor air and blowing out a constant stream of cold air. Really efficient in the winter!
Save yourself a lot of headache and a ton of additional work and expense. I recommend NEVER hiring Fairway Homes West.Wednesday 23rd April 2025
Wes Tinsley1 StarThey built a nice house thanks to the sub contractors. However, Fairway Homes West made building our AZ home a complete nightmare. The fact the our site contractor quit within the first 6 months, due to not being able to deal with the company anymore should have been a sign. We had a total of 6 project managers as they all quit the company. At one point our project was being overseen by someone in an office in Tacoma Washington. Which was very poorly handled. Unfortunately, we had to deal with 2 people in Tacoma, neither of which should still have job. Phil Martinik and Terry Boyd based with Reality Homes in Washington were the definition of unprofessional and unreliable. From not taking our calls, not calling us back for weeks, being rude and disrespectful, and bad mouthing us to the project managers and sub contractors. We finally wrote a complaint to the owners of the company and got a little bit of traction, but it did not last long. It took over 6 months for the company to get a sub to pour the “post tension” slab. Due to ordering error from Terry, it took over 6 weeks to get the correct bath tub. Plumbing sub was waiting and the Washington office, kept sending the same tub with the wrong drain location, 3 times!! Every aspect of building our home went similarly. They did not order the flooring, so we waited for it for over 2 months. The counter tops, cabinets, roof tiles. I had to pick out new flooring, countertops, and carpet, and tile as all my phase 1 decisions were discontinued. They were so far past our project due date we had to reapply for our construction loan 3 times and reapply for building permits as Terry let them expire, without filing an extension in time. We finally took our project into our own hands and scheduled all our own subs and county inspections. Needless to say it took over 2 years to get the house completed. We did get to know couple of great guys who helped us immensely, neither of which work for Fairway anymore, Cary Black and Kerry Hamilton gave us great advice and helped us keep moving the project forward.
My advice is to not build with Fairway Homes West. Now in saying that, we are happy with the home itself, but the staff and the company was absolutely a miserable experience.Monday 19th June 2023
